Thousands of weapons issued to Iraqi police are missing: report
The U.S. government cannot account for more than half of all small arms given to Iraqi security forces, according to a government report.
The Pentagon has lost track of 190,000 AK-47 rifles and pistols given to Iraqi soldiers and police in 2004 and 2005, according to the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress.
It also can't account for 135,000 items of body armour and 115,000 helmets that were reportedly issued to Iraqi forces.
