Stuck on Stupid: Sue Lowden, Harry Reid's Nemesis

There was no time for blogging on Monday night, due to a friend's birthday party. Sorry 'bout that. So here's the first of a couple of quick posts to stay current.

First up, is an almost incomprehensibly stupid advertisement being run here in Las Vegas (and surely around the state of Nevada) for Sue Lowden, on of the strongest contenders to beat Harry Reid for his Senate seat come November. I've already blasted Harry quite a bit in this space, but I'm for him over this dim bulb.

The gist of the stupid is: Lowden says in one breath that "government run health care is wrong" and that we need to protect and strengthen Medicare. As most people who are not Sue Lowden know, Medicare is government run health care. Duh.

The driving force in American politics: Dishonesty or stupidity?

I often wonder which force is more destructive in American politics: dishonesty or stupidity. To be sure, there is plenty of room for both, and whichever force comes in third (greed, spite, hubris) is likely not far behind. I contemplate this question the same way Zen monks contemplate the sound of one hand clapping — to clear my head of rational thought by focusing on a problem with no solution. . .
