Carrie Prejean: Solo Sex, Lies and & Multiple Tapes

The whole Carrie Prejean flap meant very little to me when it happened. A douchey gay blogger asked a political question, and a beauty queen answered in a "the Iraq doesn't have maps, such as"-type answer. For me, it had a lot less to do with her anti-gay marriage views as it did her word salad answer. But it was just a blip for me.

Then, she became a right-wing (naughty) poster child. She started popping up on FOX "News," and at all auspicious fundie events. She was a junior Sarah Palin in the making. But she was still a vacuous twit. Um, not that Palin isn't, mind you. Then came the story about the fake boobs, the soft-core nudie shots, and all of her very unlikely explanations about it (it was the wind!).

She shows up everywhere, speaking nonstop about how she's had her free speech rights taken away? WHEN? She never stops talking! Unless she's on Larry King Live. This week, she abruptly dropped a lawsuit against the pageant, when it was discovered that she had a solo sex video out there. Of course, the logical thing to do is go on FOX "News" and explain herself. On a very specific show of course. She's got a book to sell, and Sean Hannity wrote the foreword to it, so it's off to do Hannity! The host and authoress gave it their all, soft peddling the story as best they could. But something about Carrie's wide-eyed explanation made me instantly doubt her story. Sure enough, there was more to it. Much more.

The controversy that ensued swept Prejean into the embrace of the religious right, as she went on to make a commercial for the National Organization for Marriage (which opposes family parity for gays) and speaking at a megachurch. . .
