What would a new month be without a Rachel Maddow Show post on the blog? And this one's a doozy. With the War in Iraq effectively over (we hope), the President gave a speech to mark the occasion. It was a speech with a soft touch as to how the war started, and what we were there for. President Obama did mention President George W. Bush (three times, despite what you may have heard), but he didn't blast him for the decision to invade, or really say much of anything negative at all. It would seem that the President is still in the "looking forward, not back" mode, and would prefer we would do the same.
Harumph. The Iraq War was not only started under false pretenses, the official reason for the war kept shifting, to equally implausible scenarios. Americans have famously short memories for this sort of thing (history? boring!), but thankfully we have people like Rachel around to put things into perspective.
