Republicans Still Fighting Culture War: Planned Parenthood, Contraceptives

I'm so glad that the Republicans are focused like a laser beam on jobs. These small-government folks still want to micro-manage our sex lives, don't they?

The US House of Representatives is expected to pass an amendment to the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2011 by this weekend that would cut millions of dollars in funding to Planned Parenthood for contraceptives, reproductive health counseling and cancer screenings. . .

  1. Taking away the moral issue, I don't think the gov. should fund them in the first place. They are competing against private business and they are given an unfair advantage. Same with funding for public radio/television- public vs private.
    If the women who are poor, they can get a grant from the gov. and go to where ever clinic they would like.

  2. As a staunch conservative, I think we should stop any form of birth control. By the way, I also believe the U.S. should attempt to become more like Bangladesh. Lots of poor people and cheap labor to exploit.

  3. Abortion is most certainly not my issue, but I AM aware that it is already illegal for taxpayer money to fund abortion (which let's not forget, is a LEGAL procedure). So, the only reason to defund Planned Parenthood would be if the funds were channeled into abortion services. Unless they are very stupid, they likely have explicit accounting on that one. Abortion only accounts for a part of what PP does.

    As for Anonymous up there, I was first tempted to say "good one!" Then I wondered if you might not be serious! Hard to tell these days. . .
