President Bush's Popularity Hits All-time Low

Or so they say. It depends on which polls you consult, though they're pretty uniform. The thing is, I've seen lower. For instance, just this week, Bush hit about 27% favorable on a CBS News poll. Nothing tops his really all-time 26% in one poll from last year, though I wouldn't be shocked to see it go below that once or twice more before he's finished.

The funny thing is, there have been rumblings about Bush's image getting an overhaul in time for his swan song. Stalwart supporter, FOX "News" did a puff piece (or reach-around, if you prefer) on W. just last week. But I don't see it. His die-hard (brain dead) 25% rock-solid base may keep him from dropping below the magic ¼ mark, but even that could winnow down a little bit, don't you think? I just don't see a wave of nostalgic revisionism washing over The Decider any time soon. I know that even Nixon started defrosting some cold shoulders before he died, but I don't think Bush has it in him.

And, oh yeah, Congress had an even worse number. But comparing that to The Commander Guy is like comparing apples to agent orange. He's one guy, they're hundreds of people. Republicans and Democrats have disdain for Congress for completely different reasons, and toward different Congress members for hundreds of different reasons. Still bad, but not the same thing.

Congress' approval fell to just 22 percent, equaling its poorest grade in the survey. Both marks dropped by 4 percentage points since early January. . .
