Every political season, there are some really stupid "scandals." The big one today--at least up until John McCain's possible sex scandal--was over something Michelle Obama said in a campaign stump speech for her husband. What she said is tricky to report, because she's given essentially the same speech at least three different times, but with slight variations.
Paraphrasing, she said that for the first time in her adult life time, she's really proud of her country. Nothing is wrong with that sentence. In one of her speeches, however, she left out the word "really." This makes it sound like she's never been proud of her country in the past.
To the faux-outrage crowd on the right, this makes her an America hater and part of the blame America first™ crowd. Helping them along in their mock rage was a seemingly doctored clip of the speech below, with the word "really" omitted.
It is clear what she was saying. If she left out a "really" in one speech, who cares? We know her intent. To pick such a stupid nit here makes me tired already, in anticipation of more than eight months of this idiocy.
