Those Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday specials were a really nifty idea. The "cold open" and WU have nearly always been the funniest portions of SNL (except when Norm MacDonald and Colin Quinn were the WU anchors--horrible). So a series of specials containing only those parts? Brilliant.
