I totally agree with you. The military is bloated and it can be reduced. Probably the same with the spies. Hell, look at Nellis and how many workers they have their to support a few dozen pilots and the Thunderbirds, who are gone 2/3 of the time. In addition, they cannot even keep their darn base clean- it looks like a ghetto.
ReplyDeleteThere are programs that are not needed and they only exist because of certain congresscritters. I'd be willing to be they could cut military spending by 10% and not have an impact. But the screaming and hollering would be deafening.
As a liberal, the way of thinking on our side of the aisle has always been that the right wants "endless war" or at least an ominous enemy in order to keep the military industrial complex thrumming along. But it's seeming to me like it doesn't matter who is in charge, we're still going to be paying ridiculous amounts on "defense."
