Is Earth Past the Tipping Point?

The global climate crisis is regarded as fact by the vast majority of scientists around the world. Nonetheless, it has somehow become a right vs. left issue here in America, with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and all of FOX "News" regularly belittling the issue. Given who is against doing something about it, I don't have to think very hard about which side of the issue to come down on.

Once Limbaugh's house in Florida is under water, maybe that bunch will come around. Unfortunately, while we've been arguing about it, it has only gotten worse. So much worse in fact, that it may be already too late. Oops.

UN issues 'final wake-up call' on population and environment

The human population is living far beyond its means and inflicting damage on the environment that could pass points of no return, according to a major report issued Thursday by the United Nations. [snip]

"The human population is now so large that the amount of resources needed to sustain it exceeds what is available at current consumption patterns," Achim Steiner, the executive director of the program, said in a telephone interview.
