I've posted Steven (Wings, Studio 60) Weber's Huffington Post editorials in this space before, here, here and here. I love the site for many of its stories, and writers, but for some reason, Steven Webber's speak in my voice (or at least the one that is in my head).
This particular editorial is deeply depressing, coldly cynical, but also somehow funny. I guess gallows humor is my thing. See what you think.
[Excerpt]
No Justice, No Peace.
And the Bush war machine rolls along, the profiteer horde has filled its sacks and there is little that will be left when they skip out to their ranches or beach front condos or corporate headquarters or upscale hooches. And there is little that will be done. The Dems will squawk for a bit, the Reps will shake their fists and wag their coiffed beehives in high dudgeon and then the dust of the last 8 years, the dust of Katrina, of Iraq, of Blackwater, of Gonzalez, of Wolfie, of Brownie, of social security, of health care, of TERROR---the dust will settle and we will brush it off like so much scalp scurf, forgetting from whence it floated and, distracted from the density of the sediment, continue consuming.
Spoiler alert!
Here's the end: they get away. . .
