This is hilarious. TV GUIDE, a Newscorp entity, and therefore a Rupert Murdoch property like FOX "News," apparently doesn't consider The O'Reilly Factor to be "news," but does count Countdown with Keith Olbermann in that category. This will undoubtedly make Olbermann cackle with glee, and cause O'Reilly's head to explode.
The truth is, the shows are not comparable. The Factor is almost entirely commentary, with faux outrage about "the War on Christmas," and body language experts, and whatever evil thing MediaMatters.org or MoveOn.org has done in a given day. Countdown, by contrast, is in large part commentary, but about 75% of it is commentary on the important news items of the day--often huge items entirely overlooked by The Factor (or Hannity & Colmes, and On the Record for that matter).

The debate over whether Fox News is a legitimate news enterprise has seized many in the press and academia. But the transparently partisan presentation in their reporting should make for a short and dull debate. Now, an uncharacteristically honest depiction of Fox News can found in an unlikely place.
