Rachel Maddow Nabs Her Own Show on MSNBC!

Given the overabundance of posts on this blog featuring or mentioning Air America Radio and MSNBC personality, Rachel Maddow, I'd given serious thought to tempering my coverage of her. All of that is out the window today, with the news that Maddow has been given a show of her own. Even better, it will follow Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and will apparently feature a little interplay.

This is awesome news to Maddow fans like myself, who have lobbied for a Maddow-led program for months. She's funny, smart, extremely affable, and a perfect fit with Olbermann. Given her meteoric rise on MSNBC, this actually happened pretty quickly as these things go, but it feels overdue. Fortunately--for a network not known for stellar decisions--MSNBC agreed with Maddow's fans. Unfortunately for Dan Abrams, once the head honcho at the network, his show is apparently going to be bumped. But I'm sure he saw it coming.

Just in time for the closing rush of the presidential election, MSNBC is shaking up its prime-time programming lineup, removing the longtime host Dan Abrams — its onetime general manager — from his 9 p.m. program and replacing him with Rachel Maddow, who has emerged as a favored political commentator for the all-news cable network. . .
