Awww jeez. Why you gotta go and do that for, Edith? Sadness here at
Greenlee Gazette, even though she made it to 90, and died of natural causes. I mean, who can ask for better than that? But Jean Stapleton is such a treasured figure from just about
anybody's nostalgic memories of the 1970s. There was simply no one else like her. Even though I was only 5 years old when
All in the Family debuted, it was always on, and the show worked on so many levels,
everyone liked it. Conservatives could agree with Archie Bunker while liberals could laugh at him. Kids would miss the adult material, but delight in the characters, particularly "dingbat" Edith. And I can't imagine any other actress bringing Edith to life in the way Stapleton did. RIP, Jean.
