Nancy Pelosi Offers Up Obama VP Idea

Three things bother me about Nancy Pelosi's nominee idea for Barack Obama's running mate. First, it's coming from Nancy Pelosi, a decidedly unpopular Democrat among Democrats, and not a few Republicans. Would her endorsement be a taint? Second, I've never heard of the guy, and I'll bet most other people haven't either. And third, his last name is Edwards, which might confuse some of the more uninformed voters. John Edwards, the most prominent Democrat with that name, has got a few little issues going on now, which probably are more likely to break through to that sort of voter than the identity of this other Edwards.

But what do I know? Maybe he's just swell. We'll see.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is behind a dark horse in the Democratic veepstakes: Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas.
