Sean Hannity OWNED by Alan Colmes

I watch the FOX "News" program, Hannity & Colmes at my own peril. The Other Half despises Sean Hannity with the fiery fury of 1000 suns. If he knew how to block the channel on the cable box, he would. But when I'm blogging, after getting my required dose of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, I will sometimes flip on H&C--for educational purposes.

Though I'm generally only paying half attention to the program, last night I was lucky enough to tune in at a very opportune moment. Hannity, along with two other conservatives were rehashing (read: beating to death) the John Edwards affair, against one liberal and Alan Colmes. On an ordinary night, Hannity manages to hammer his (often ludicrous) points home, while Colmes would make intelligent (though milquetoasty) points. Not last night.

Hannity and his compatriots eviscerated Edwards, and agreed that a man who would cheat on his sick wife would be unfit to be President. Colmes, when he got his time, turned the tables on Hannity, pointing out John McCain's indiscretions while married to his own recuperating wife. Hannity sputtered and spewed, talking over Colmes' segment, and neither he nor his two allies could manage a decent response. It was a sight to behold.

Big props to Alan Colmes for pointing out the similarities between John Edwards' infidelity and John McCain's and asking why Edwards is unfit for public office as a result but McCain is not. After soundly denouncing Edwards as unworthy of the presidency because he broke his marriage vows to an ailing wife, none of the conservatives could come up with a decent explanation about why McCain’s similar behavior was any less despicable. Sean Hannity was so flustered that he repeatedly tried to interrupt Colmes and carried the argument over to the next segment. . .
