Keith Olbermann's Special Comment: Tea Party Racism

Many liberals like me have suspected for a long time that the massive resistance to President Obama from day one had at least something to do with racism. Of course, saying so causes an immediate knee-jerk reaction from anyone who might fall into that category. They'll deny it vociferously, and with unpleasant language. So people don't come right out and say it very often.

Stephanie Miller often plays a clip from a public service announcement about discrimination, of an employer saying something like (in a hushed whisper), "didn't you notice he's black?" I hear that clip when I see the tea baggers going on with their extensive laundry lists of incoherent complaints about Obama. I hear it between each claim. For every minority they can pick out of one of their rallies, there are 95 white faces. Are there no disaffected, angry minorities? Hmmm.

Keith Olbermann noticed this too, and gave one of his more effective Special Comments about it on Monday's show. No over-the-top language, no shouting or ranting, and very little stage work of camera changes and head tilts. Enough that surely sites like FreeRepublic, Red State and the ever complaining OlbermannWatch will note little else. While I'm sure they'll give refuting this clip a go, I wouldn't count on a substantive rebuttal. There isn't one.
