It's very easy to overgeneralize about groups of people. Being a double-minority (gay, agnostic) who is able to pass for "normal" (white, male), I've heard more than my share of that from people who didn't realize they had a godless queer in their midst. Note to white male Christians: the world is not FreeRepublic. Ahem. Anyway, when it comes to the various factions of the "tea party" movement, overgeneralizing doesn't seem to apply. They're nuts.
And they're so much fun to joke about. Say "tea bagger" and watch them freak out. Watch them dress in costume and take on characters like they're at the political equivalent of a Star Trek convention. Hear them express their "ideals" in a word salad, talking-points-in-a-Cuisinart spew that would make Sarah Palin seem articulate. See them fashion the American flag into atrocious fashions.
They're angry! About what, they are not so clear. They want their country back! From what is a little muddled. Their preferred political party has been out of power for just over a year, and they'll insist that everything wrong is the fault of the new guys. No, you can't overgeneralize about this group. They're a big ball of stuck on crazy and or stupid. See for yourself.
