To Show or Not to Show: The Osama bin Laden Death Photos

I could honestly go either way on this one. I'm not easily grossed out, so I'm not all oogy about seeing real-life gore, necessarily. But I'm also leery of giving in to ridiculous requests, so if this is all about appeasing the nascent "deathers" conspiracy theorists, I say "nay."

News organizations press White House to release visual proof of bin Laden’s death

The Associated Press and other news organizations have officially taken the position that President Barack Obama should release visual proof of Osama bin Laden's death, claiming that without this level of transparency the White House is essentially deciding what is and is not newsworthy. . .

  1. Show me 1 piece of concrete evidence that Bin Laden died.

  2. I think that the Taliban & al Qaeda acknowledgement is pretty significant. A message was sent thru their networks & can be seen on their respective websites & other outlets.

As far as disproving "Deathers" with concrete evidence I believe it is far too late for that.
I'm thinking the only way a "Deather" will ever believe Bin Laden is dead would be for said "Deather" to have taken part in the raid on the compund. Short of that, nothing will convince them.

And once this Bin Laden issue is widdled down to molecules, there will be another instance that will give the "Quoters" (Name TBD) to blindly believe, follow & use against an administration they don't respect.

  3. DAN! Step away from the nutters! Al Qaeda says he's dead. His WIVES say he's dead. He hasn't popped up in a new video saying "Missed me, missed me!"

If they release the photos, the crazy people scouring the birth certificate will get on the YouTubes going on about whatever small JPG the White House posts, saying THE PIXELS! THE PIXELS! They will ignore that JPGs use "lossy" technology, and ALWAYS get blocky when you zoom in. They'll insist that the "forging" happened IN THAT JPG, and not the original scanned photo. It's going to be deja vu all over again. And the Monkey is right. If you're far enough down the rabbit hole, NOTHING will convince you.

  4. Let's see, Al-Qaeda says he is dead and they are getting this from whom? Everyone at the home is either in custody and out of sight or dead.
There have been several photo's supposedly of Bin Laden but proved to be a fake.
What will shut up most people will be a vial of blood of Bin Laden with his DNA.
Hell, Bin Laden could be kidnapped as far as anybody knows.
While I am almost positive Bin Laden is dead, please remember that the left was demanding to know about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? They demanded absolute proof and nothing every satisfied them.
I am just doing what the left has done in the past.
And the left doesn't like that.

  5. Bad analogy. There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, which was pretty much the entire case made for war. And as far as I know, the Bush Administration--oddly, I have to say--didn't claim to have found any. Now, SEAN HANNITY tried to make the claim that something was found, but it didn't go any further than FOX "News."
