I don't know from Common. Seriously, I now know that he has a respected body of work, and that Sean Hannity doesn't understand it. But before today, if you said that Michelle Obama invited Common, I'd have no idea what you were talking about. But FOX "News" and the right-wing talk radio crowd thinks we should be really upset about it. And all good little conservobots are now duly outraged by a person they previously knew less about than I did. This is really what we're spending our time on?
Jon Stewart just ran a brilliant clip on this non-troversy on The Daily Show, which I'll have to put up as soon as it is available. But I'd like to point out to the tea baggers partiers that if they don't want to keep getting called "racist," that maybe they shouldn't get their panties in a bunch over the "scary" black people. Let something go once in a while.

Conservatives such as Fox News, the Daily Caller and Sarah Palin are criticizing the White House's invitation to rapper Common for a poetry event over the purported vulgarity of his lyrics. Fox Nation, for instance, called Common a "vile rapper. . ."
