FOX "News" Runs Premature GOP Presidential Debate

Back in 2008, when there was no incumbant running for president, there was a huge group of declared candidates on both sides vying for the prize. The GOP side in particular was full of outsized personalities like Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, Ron Paul and Alan Keyes. What were there eleven podiums at their first debate?

This time around, the GOP candidates are dragging their feet on declaring. A few have, but they're mostly of the fringy variety, some retreads from the last time around. Oddly, FOX "News" scheduled a debate early, I guess trying to make a name for themselves by being first. But the heavyweights who are expected to declare have not. So FOX was stuck with a stage full of people likely to get nowhere near the nomination, with the possible exception of Tim Pawlenty. It's exciting stuff, folks!
