It's way too early to give Sarah Palin a pass on the "Africa is a country" and "what countries are in North America" stuff. But there is some disinformation swirling around those stories. I posted some of my patented snark about the revelations, but in the context of a FOX "News" report of the story. Which made it doubly funny.
I'm convinced, after hearing a really lame defense from Palin herself in an interview, that her comments were genuine, or at least along the lines of the other things she doesn't know.

Thomas Eisenstadt. There is no Eisenstadt Group. There is no Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. M. Thomas Eisenstadt is a hoax. . ."
