Natalee Holloway Case Over, Now Let's Move On

She who has not been named for some time in this space can finally be named, because it is the last time (barring an unexpected return or something) that she will ever be newsworthy.

I have nothing in particular against the actual girl who went missing in Aruba some years ago. She probably made a really bad decision, the kind we all usually get to take back or simply regret, and it led to her demise (or merely disappearance?). No, my beef is with our illustrious "news" media, and their ridiculous fascination with the case.

Countless people have gone missing since Ms. Holloway disappeared, and while some have become the "missing white girl" of the moment, most have never heard their names. I still can't figure out what made this particular case so fascinating to the media (and to the spoon-fed masses). Maybe it's because her step-dad was named "Jug Twitty." Fortunately, we can close this chapter, and instead wonder why Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Pamela Anderson garner similar attention.
Let Greta Van Whatsername report something else (lots of people named "Peterson" out there). Just don't let Rita Cosby in on the action, please. . .
