Countdown: Letterman Still Joking About Palin

I was in the camp that thought David Letterman should never have apologized to Sarah Palin. She's a public figure, has made her children public figures, and David Letterman is a comedian. What happened from that is a normal, ordinary, part of politics and pop culture. Letterman is far from the raunchiest comic out there, and his jokes were far less incendiary toward Palin than many others, like Kathy Griffin or Bill Maher.

But Palin chose to pick a fight with Letterman. And her deranged supporters have been out for Letterman's hide ever since, casting far, far worse aspersions at him than he was ever guilty of. Given all of that, I'm extremely pleased that Letterman didn't pull back on Palin when she made the news again. Good for him. And damned funny too.
