Las Vegas Entertainer Danny Gans Dies

This one is just weird. Living in Las Vegas for the past 15 years, Danny Gans has been omnipresent. He's played extended runs at Rio, Mirage and Wynn, as a singer/impressionist. Aside from the white-on-black block letters shouting "DANNY GANS" on taxicabs and billboards all over town, there was the image of the tanned and (extremely) fit Gans in a black t-shirt.

He wasn't quite as young as he looked. How could he be? He costarred with Ellen DeGeneres in an eighties sitcom, after all. But at 52, he wasn't even in the range of Elton John, Cher or Bette Midler, for goodness' sake. And he died in his sleep? I guess that's a preferred way to go. It just makes you realize, anybody's number could be up at just about any time. RIP Danny.

  1. i would assume that any mainstream Vegas entertainer would probably live a physically unhealthy life
