Fall TV Season: Medium Picked Up by CBS

Before Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was cancelled, there was a lot of Internet buzz about it being picked up by another network or a cable channel. Warner Brothers seems to have shot that down. And many a blogger pooh-poohed it, saying that it basically never happens. Well, T:TSCC may not be getting a new life elsewhere, but the same can't be said for NBC's Medium.

NBC cancelled the psychic procedural, which stars Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber, but CBS is picking it up. And to that I say, "woohoo!" Medium is a surprisingly addictive show for a procedural, thanks mostly to the cast. Arquette and Weber are an unusually believable couple, and the actors playing their kids (at least the older two) are a notch above the usual child actors. Add to that the twist of psychic phenomena, and you have an exciting show that manages to reset to "status quo" every week without getting boring.

I've loved Patricia Arquette since A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. She's an amazing actress in the most unbelievable situations. And her on-screen hubby does a great job too, particularly at disguising his English accent. I'm glad to see that the show will be back. And this means that the only "favorite" show of mine that won't be back is T:TSCC. I'll take it.
