Having spent the weekend with family for a funeral, I didn't get to see any of the big Glenn Beck-invented "9/12 Project" protest. Thankfully. The project claims to want to recapture the sense of unity we had as a nation after 9/11. But it is clear that there is a different agenda afoot.
After 9/11, Republicans and Democrats were united behind a President that only half of them cared for very much. There was no partisan sniping, not for quite a while. The most vocal of the "far left" was for the most part silent. But the crazy wing of the Republicans/conservatives have overtaken the mainstream, and have used the event of 9/11 as a rallying cry. The problem is, their message is diffused and vague. They simply hate everything about President Obama, his agenda, his party and the government in general. How does this attitude replicate the political landscape of September 2001? It flat out doesn't.
