It was a pretty awesome day, with no violence despite passionate views on both sides.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why it was larger is because both sides were represented today. You know, conservatives have jobs to do unlike liberals who took the day off.

While it's true that both sides were represented yesterday, the pro-Walker demonstrators were vastly outnumbered. They mostly stayed on the Capitol lawn at the King Street entrance, where the stage and microphone for their speakers was set up. They also wrapped up and went home about an hour and a half earlier than scheduled. I did see a handful of "the other side" walking among the bigger union crowd, and at least a couple signs that were deliberately provocative (like "God Hates Dems" and "Obama, Hitler, Stalin"), but no one took the bait. There were some college students with the predictable "Walker is Fascist" signs. One child stood on the sidewalk with his mother, holding a sign that said "Walker is Not Hitler. He is a Bad Governor." I thought that showed some real class, and I'm glad she's teaching him how to protest peacefully, without exaggerated rhetoric.
