Admiral William Fallon Stepping Down from Centcom

Once again, I'm wandering into news territory that is unfamiliar. It's a big news story, one that has (once again) started a left-right battle in the blogosphere over why Admiral Fallon is stepping down from Centcom. But see, I had to look up this article on Wikipedia just to learn what the heck Centcom is. So rather than try to fake it, I'll go right on to the excerpt, and read along with you.

Admiral Fallon Resigns as Head of Centcom

Navy Adm. William Fallon, the head of U.S. Central Command, which leads U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, is stepping down, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Tuesday.

Fallon claimed ongoing misperceptions about differences between his ideas and U.S. policy are making it too difficult for him to operate, Gates said, agreeing. He added that the differences are not extreme, but the misperception had become too great. . .
