Shameless Gossip: McGreevey & Wife

I've spent a lot of time on this blog posting about political sex scandals. Usually, they have to do with holier-than-thou ultra-conservatives caught with hookers, soliciting sex in bathrooms, having an affinity for diapers. . . You know, schadenfreude stuff.

Democrats are not immune. Sometimes the urge strikes them too. Jim McGreevey, former governor of New Jersey had his own sex scandal in the days before I started this blog. He got busted for putting his alleged boyfriend on the payroll. And his wife was a little miffed about that. She parlayed her ordeal into a book deal, and has been on the talk show circuit. All through it, she claims she was hoodwinked, and thought her husband was straight.

This story would seem to prove otherwise. . .

McGreevey aide says he had sexual trysts with ex-governor, wife

A former aide to James E. McGreevey said today that he had three-way sexual trysts with the former governor and his wife before he took office, challenging Dina Matos McGreevey's assertion that she was naive about her husband's sexual exploits.

The aide, Theodore Pedersen, said he and the couple even had a nickname for the weekly romps, from 1999 to 2001, that typically began with dinner at T.G.I. Friday's and ended with a threesome at McGreevey's condo in Woodbridge.

They called them "Friday Night Specials," according to Pedersen. . .
