Now, why would I say that in a headline? Because this was a seriously stupid thing to say.
We've cut the presidential candidates a lot of slack when it comes to their campaign statements. Hillary Clinton was "exaggerating" about sniper fire. Barack Obama "didn't know" his preacher was a nut-bar. John McCain had a "senior moment." Well, this would certainly qualify as either a senior moment, a flat out lie, or just plain dementia:
