More on Possible Wiretap Compromise

As far as I'm concerned, compromise is not an option for the Democrats. In a year of unprecedented Democratic interest in politics, Congressional Democrats are in extreme danger of undercutting their support if they waiver on this issue. There is simply no reason to allow retroactive immunity for telecoms in this case. To do so would remove any power Congress would have to pursue investigations into administration wrongdoing. Why on earth would they compromise?
