Fast Food: Advertising vs. Reality

Even before HDTV, fast food advertising had a way of picturing their food offerings in luscious, vibrant realistic color. Tomatoes are brilliant red, with glistening dewdrops. Buns are perfect and fluffy. Everything about it is geared to make you drool.

But what happens when you open the wrapper on that exciting new sandwich? If it's Whopper from Burger King or anything from Arby's, the sandwich looks flat, drippy, messy, and often falls apart as you eat it.

I found this web site completely by accident, but marveled at the photos. It's downright hilarious the difference between a professional photo of a sandwich and the actual shot of what was purchased. Here's one example:

Doesn't the one on the right just look yummy?

Check out the other photos, they're a lot of fun. And I think Subway, and surprisingly, McDonald's Filet O' Fish fare the best.
