James Dobson Endorses Mike Huckabee

I'm a grump, I'll admit it. I'm sick of right-wing control of politics. I'm sick of the ubiquity of extremist right-wing opinion as if it is mainstream. And I'm sick of the strong-arm tactics of religious leaders, trying to shoe-horn their religion into politics and law.

James Dobson, with the death of Jerry Falwell, the advanced age of Billy Graham and the descent into craziness of Pat Robertson, is probably the most influential religious leader in the country. His "Focus on the Family" organization--largely a "we hate gay people" group--has propelled him to the top. And now that he has this power, he's wielding it to publically endorse. . .Mike Huckabee? Now? OK. . .

Oh, and I'm also sick of the media's tendancy to refer to Dobson as "Dr.", as if that is the main reason he's a power-player.
