The Supreme Court has the amazing ability to be able to pick and choose whichever cases they want to hear, and ignore the rest. I say amazing, because it's a really nifty way of not getting involved if they don't want to. Wouldn't it be cool if we could do that in our own jobs? Eww, that's too hard. Nah, boss, I'm just not gonna do it!
So, today's decision by the SCOTUS not to hear a case about the constitutionality of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy didn't exactly validate the policy. But you wouldn't know that by some of the headlines. Some--particularly far right-wing sites--are declaring a full-fledged victory. I wouldn't get too excited yet, folks, this ain't over yet.
