Every generation has a remake of a song that feels to them like it is new, or now if you will, even if their parents (or grandparents) remember the original being much better. Sometimes, the same song will hit the charts in almost every generation, sometimes more than once.
One of my favorites is Dancing in the Street by Martha and the Vandellas. That song lands squarely in my mother's generation. But before she had finished growing up (or at least shortly after I was born), the Mamas and the Papas had released their version. And by the time I was a pop music fan, there had been Van Halen's rocking version followed a few short years later by David Bowie and Mick Jagger's version. One thing you've got to say is that this song is versitile. Still, where is this (or even the last) generation's version? Aren't we overdue for a new one? Summer may not be here yet but it is pretty soon!
