GOP New Hampshire Debate Analysis

There is simply nothing about these candidates--except for Jon Huntsman--that you haven't known for a while. Nothing made any of them surge or retreat because it was new. In this see-saw race for ascendency, only timing and process of elimination have elevated any particular candidate at any particular time. In this process, (non-candidate) Donald Trump, Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann have at once been atop the GOP love train, and beneath it. Now, we are left with (non-entity) Huntsman, super-Christian Rick Santorum, Texas dolt, Rick Perry, serial-adulterer Newt Gingrich, crazy fucker Ron Paul and GOP Standard Bearer (and cultist Mormon*) Mitt Romney.

In Saturday night's ABC debate, nothing new was unearthed. Republican crowds will still cheer red meat. Candidates will gleefully trash gay American taxpayers. At length. And after the interminable exchanges of these neanderthal candidates, nothing new is learned. There was some snarking at each other--very little, by the way, at front-runner Romney--and some sniping at poor people and other unfortunates. But it was mostly trash the gay and trash everyone but Romney. Did they get the Karl Rove/Frank Luntz memo that Romney is The One™?
