Like I do every week, I watched HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, and I enjoyed it. But not as much as usual. Bill has been playing with tweaking the format lately, trying a two-guest panel, and then bringing in a third guest part way into the discussion. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, but the panels have been odd mixes. This week, it was Mos Def and Salman Rushdie, two guys who have very little in common besides being Muslim at one time or another. Christopher Hitchens sloshed out, drink in hand to join the panel eventually. Love him, but the discussion devolved into something like a bunch of drunken friends arguing at a party. Here's hoping the guest choices improve soon.
Still, the New Rules portion of the show didn't disappoint.
