White people playing Mexican (from Igougo.com)
Today is an nearly annual event for my surrogate family out here in Las Vegas. Before moving here nearly 15 years ago, I'd only recently even heard of "Cinco de Mayo," the Mexican Independence Day. I guess we didn't cover Mexican history much in school, and immigrants from south of the border were just not very numerous in central Ohio back then.
But here in the Southwest, the holiday is fairly widespread. So we gringos take advantage of the event as an excuse to drink margaritas and cervezas! Not to mention our bastardized Ameri-Mex foods. Because of this adopted holiday, I probably won't be posting a whole lot today. So if you don't see anything new before late Monday, don't be surprised!
¡Fiesta!
