It remains an open question, whether or not the South and other Bible-belt areas turn out for Mitt Romney. Will evangelical voters turn out for a Mormon? Will their distaste for Mitt outweigh their distaste for the (black) other guy? Well, amazingly enough, the LDS portion of Mittens' narrative has been kept on the margins for most of this contest. Probably partially because of the confusion of having to otherwise choose two Catholics Newt Gingrich, and Rick (don't Google me) Santorum who for some reason is acting like Pat Robertson Jr. Aren't Protestants supposed to distrust Cathol. . .oh forget it.
But don't count on the Mormon Thing to continue to stay in the background. People who loathe the President, but think Mormonism is a cult may start to get itchy. They may start to act out. Like the guy who brought it up just recently. Check it out.

Brigham Young sounds like Southern Democrats from a few decades ago.
ReplyDeleteThis O'Donnell is an idiot because the LDS don't believe in that anymore, but maybe he is too ignorant to figure that out.
And my guess is that the Protestants will vote for Romney rather than vote for Obama. It is the lesser of two evils.
You know what happened to those Southern Democrats, don't you? They became Republicans! That's what Nixon's Southern Strategy was all about. Anyway, I don't think O'Donnell was saying that Mormons believe that any more. Merely that Mitt Romney DID belive it at one time, and as a 30+ year old adult, not in his formative years. And Brigham Young certainly DID believe it.
