Rachel Maddow Explains Trolls, and the NRA's Tactics
Wednesday night, we had friends over for dinner and cards, so I missed most of The Rachel Maddow Show. I know, no big deal, right? Right. But it seems like whenever I miss the show, there was something great on it. Por ejemplo. . . .
I've never before linked the word "trolling" with what is being done here. There have been many times when I've looked at the TV despairingly asking "What the hell are they doing? Do they want people to think they are stupid?" Now I know the answer. Thank you Dr. Maddow. Thanks Jamie for posting. ~valerie.
Rachel has it right, though she pointed to examples I have fallen for. Trolling is Ann Coulter's entire schtick. But one thing I've noticed about Rachel: if she's uncomfortable addressing a story directly, she finds a framing device like this one. It lets her talk about the NRA video without giving it an ounce of credence. That's talent.
