It's my last evening home before my trip, so I don't know how many posts I'll be able to get entered tonight. That's too bad, because there is a lot going on! In lieu of heavy editorializing, here are some links to stories I've found interesting today. Time permitting, I'll flesh some of this out later. Happy reading.
• An interesting take on the White House's order to Harriet Miers not to appear before Congress: When the boss of bosses speaks
• A link from Wikipedia, explaining "Contempt of Congress," and all that entails. Pay close attention to the concept of "Inherent Contempt." John Dean and Randi Rhodes are pushing for that: Contempt of Congress.
• David Corn has people sleuthing into the phone number lists of the DC Madam, giving Larry Flynt an assist: DavidCorn.com.
• A disgusting (but hardly surprising) report of exactly what the Bush Administration expects of it's Surgeon General: Surgeon General's orders: Don't talk about sex or science. Do talk about Bush three times on every page.
• Republicans lose all rights to the phrase "we support the troops" after filibustering the Webb vote on troop readiness: Jim Webb: Webb Faults Republican Filibuster Of Amendment To Support Troops.
• A bit of the nitty-gritty on "Executive Privilege," here: Executive Privilege: Taylor-made and here: Wikipedia: Executive Privilege.
• Harriet Miers may be a test case in just how far this particular Congress is willing to test these issues: Former Bush Adviser to Say No to Senate
More later, if I have time!
