Huckabee's Dilemma: Paroled Rapist Story

Each of the upper tier of the Republican and Democratic contenders for President has some sort of obstacle to the nomination. Rudy Giulini has a series of hurdles of course. Mitt Romney has the flip-flopping, and the Mormon thing. Hillary Clinton's are largely getting past dyed-in-the-wool Clinton-haters.

But one of those haters seems to be (allegedly!) Mike Huckabee himself. And his attitude toward the Clintons may have brought him his first major challenge, even as he has just risen to the "top tier" category.

Last Wednesday, Huckabee’s performance in the Republican debate garnered strong reviews. A new Des Moines Register poll in Iowa, home of the influential Jan. 3 caucuses, shows the likeable Baptist minister leading the field.
