Even Karl Rove Thinks Boehner Blew It

On the way home from work, I heard our local right-winger (well, one of them) on the radio. His name is Kevin Wall, and he's sort of new. When he's not beating a local story to death, he's spinning the news to the advantage of conservatives, and is fond of blaming President Obama for anything. On Wednesday night, he was giving it his best shot, making Harry Reid the problem with the Payroll Tax Holiday Extension fiasco. But even with the ease that conservatives in Nevada blame Harry Reid, Wall wasn't very convincing on this one

And no wonder! The Senate managed to pass their extension by eighty-nine votes. You can't get eighty-nine votes affirming the cuteness of puppies in the Senate. What exactly was John Boner Boehner holding out for? It would seem that Boehner is spectacularly bad at his job.

Karl Rove Concedes House GOP Blew It On Payroll Tax

Even George W. Bush’s top strategist Karl Rove thinks House Republicans overreached in reneging on the payroll tax cut deal. His advice: having lost the politics, Republicans should wait until (or to see if?) President Obama flies off to Hawaii on vacation, bash him and congressional Democrats for abdicating their duties, and then … pass the same Senate payroll tax cut compromise they could have passed on Tuesday. . .
