Holiday Cheer: Parody Songs by Bob Rivers

By the time Christmas finally arrives, I've usually had my fill of traditional Christmas music. I'm not the biggest fan of the oldy-moldies anyway. My tastes tend to run toward modern tunes by Annie Lennox or Sheryl Crow. . .or. . .the demented tunes by Bob Rivers and others.

Guess which ones I'm sharing with you? Now, mind you, the videos aren't the main attraction here, as the songs typically don't have a studio produced video. There are charms available in the videos of course, but the real treats are in the songs. Enjoy.

#1 - Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire by Bob Rivers - One of the most creative parodies of the old-school tunes. This is actually a sequel to an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" parody, where ol' Dave Seville has finally had it, and in this song he gets his revenge. Priceless.

#2 - The Chimney Song by Bob Rivers - This one might be more familiar, and may be in danger of over-play. But if you haven't heard it before, be prepared for what sounds cute, only to become morbid--but funny! And the video is creepy.

#3 - Walkin' 'round in Women's Underwear by Bob Rivers - This song perfectly fits the original lyrics, but sort of removes the holiday element. But come to think of it, "Winter Wonderland" is really not a Christmas Song. Anyway, some brilliant lyrics. Funny for open-minded people and bigots alike. . .

#4 - The 12 Pains of Christmas by Bob Rivers - A great spin on The 12 Days of Christmas that solves the problem of boredom by day 8 or so, by changing it up each time. Pretty funny stuff, and the video is clever.
