It's too early to tell where this story goes, or whether it goes anywhere. But it seems pretty dirty to me. John McCain's advisor, Rick Davis, had a consulting company that has been receiving monthly payments from Freddie Mac--up to and including last month.
Now, Davis supposedly left the consulting firm (which bears his name) to join the McCain campaign. But it sounds a lot like Dick Cheney "leaving" Halliburton to me. And if Davis wasn't working for his firm anymore, why was Freddie Mac paying them money for a job Davis was doing? It's all confusing, but expect it to get a lot more attention over the rest of the week.
