Sarah Palin Going Back to Alaska to Cram for VP

There's still something surreal that I can't quite shake from the Republican National Convention. It may be over, but I just witnessed a campaign stop by John McCain and Sarah Palin on the teevee machine, with its condensed versions of the speeches from the last few days.

Republicans are ecstatic, nearly orgasmic over Sarah Palin, and that rabid enthusiasm has given old lumpy John McCain a slightly warmer reception. But let's remember something here. As recently as a few months ago, Republicans were lukewarm--at best--on John McCain. And Sarah Palin was completely unknown as recently as a week ago. For all the gushing over her, she simply hasn't been around long enough--even if she were 100% qualified--to justify the reaction to her. I maintain, that it wouldn't matter who was in the top spot, all of this gushing is because they got themselves a hard-right-wing, telegenic woman. And she's willing to do whatever she's told to do. Lies well too.

But, right now, Palin is a one-trick pony. She can't veer too far astray from the big ol' crowd-pleasing script from Wednesday, because it is all she's been prepped to do so far. So it turns out, she's not only not ready to be President, she's not even ready to campaign for Vice President! AmericaBlog has more:

So, the NY Daily News says the "road show" stops because of the son. That's the spin we'll hear over and over and over. . .
