I'm over-anxious for Barack Obama to really get tough. I want him to put down the whiffle-bat and pick up a freaking club. The slime coming down--distortion, lies innuendo--in ad after ad from John McCain is starting to piss me off. It has to be pissing Obama off. What I'd love is for Michelle Obama to come out and pull a Claire Huxtable smack-down on McCain-Palin.
Unfortunately, Michelle has already been caricatured as an "angry black woman," so they can't do that. But they must do something. The way Barack Obama has been responding ought to be enough in polite society. But we are very clearly not a polite society. There are about a third of us who are low-down, low-down, viciously hateful people, as is evidenced by some of the nasty things being said out there.
It's insane to see McCain-Palin acting like victims when they are tossing shit with gusto on a daily basis. They don't care what sticks as long as they make a mess. I've said several times before that the irony is, Obama could fight back just as viciously without stooping to the gutter. The truth will do. This ad is a nice start, but needs to have a few more teeth in it.
