When The Other Half and I were at the grocery store the other day, I pointed to the rack of tabloids (now more often actual magazines), and said that Sarah Palin would be on the cover of them this week. It may not take a sooth-sayer to say that, but I was right.
And why not? News has melded into entertainment. What's going on with Britney or Jamie Lynn Spears is just as likely to be the top story as who's running for office. So it's only a small leap the other direction. When a person is nominated for the second highest office in the land with a thin resume, and a family history that is Jerry Springer ready, what do you expect?
